Five years ago, large-cap funds were the biggest destination for SIP money. That is no longer the case. Mid-cap funds have moved to the top, accounting for 13 percent of total SIP AUM as of March 2026, according to the AMFI-Crisil Factbook 2026. Flexi-cap funds are a close second at 12.8 percent, followed by small-cap funds at 12.1 percent.
Equity-oriented schemes continue to dominate, accounting for around 87 percent of total SIP AUM. But within equity, the leaderboard has clearly changed: mid-cap funds have taken the top spot, small caps have moved into the top three
